Privacy Policy

Earth & Sky ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Josh & Lindsey Wise and is based in the United States. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your information. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control your data.

What We Collect

When you use Earth & Sky, we may collect the following information:

• Account information: Your name and email address when you create an account.
• Journal entries: Text you write in the journaling feature. Entries remain on your device unless you explicitly enable journal cloud backup.
• Meditation session data: Information about which meditations you've listened to, session duration, and completion status.
• Mood tracking data: Mood entries and context you provide through the journaling and mood tracking features.
• Usage analytics: Pseudonymous event data linked to your account ID, such as features used and session frequency. We use this to understand and improve the app.
• Crystal conversations: Messages you send to Crystal, Crystal's responses, and relevant practice context used to personalize the conversation.
• Community content: Posts, replies, display name, and photos you choose to share in the Circle. Circle content is visible to other app users.
• Subscription information: Payment and subscription status, managed through RevenueCat. We do not store your payment card details directly.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the Earth & Sky app and its features.
• To authenticate your account and manage your subscription.
• To sync your data across devices (if you opt into cloud backup).
• To power the Crystal AI companion feature. Messages and relevant context are sent to the Anthropic Claude API for processing, and conversation history is stored by Earth & Sky so the feature can maintain continuity.
• To improve the app based on pseudonymous usage patterns.
• To communicate with you about your account or important updates.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Earth & Sky:

• Supabase: Our authentication, database, analytics, community, and optional journal-backup provider.
• RevenueCat: Manages subscription purchases and billing. RevenueCat processes your subscription transactions but does not have access to your app content or journal entries.
• Anthropic (Claude API): Processes Crystal requests. Anthropic handles submitted content under its applicable API privacy and retention terms.

What We Do Not Do

• We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
• We do not share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.
• We do not routinely review journal entries. However, cloud-backed entries are not end-to-end encrypted, and authorized service operators may technically access stored content when required for security, support, or legal obligations.
• We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.

Journal Privacy

Journal cloud backup is off by default. You control where entries are stored:

• Local-only: Entries stay in the app's storage on your device and are not sent to our journal-backup database. Your device passcode and operating-system protections help protect this data.
• Cloud backup: If you opt in, entries are transmitted using encryption and stored in Supabase infrastructure with encryption at rest and account-based access controls. This is not end-to-end encryption.
• Turning backup off: You can keep the existing cloud copy or permanently delete the cloud journal copy from Settings.

Data Retention & Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app. When you delete your account:

• Your account information, cloud journal entries, Crystal data, session data, analytics, community content, and community photos are deleted from our active systems.
• This action is irreversible.
• Earth & Sky clears app-local user data from the device as part of the deletion flow.
• Deleting an Earth & Sky account does not cancel a subscription managed by Apple, Google, or another purchase provider. You must cancel it through that provider.
• Purchase records that another provider must retain and limited disaster-recovery backups may remain for the period required by that provider or applicable law.

You can also delete only your Crystal conversation and relationship data from Settings without deleting the rest of your account.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information, including encrypted network transport, infrastructure encryption at rest, row-level database access controls, and secure authentication through Supabase. Cloud-backed journals and Crystal conversations are not end-to-end encrypted. No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.

Children's Privacy

Earth & Sky is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
